Timothy Michael is born in Saint Paul, MN to Mary (teacher) & Albert Kaine (welder/business owner).

1976

Tim graduates from Rockhurst HS, a Jesuit prep school, as class president and a debater.

1978

Coro, a non-partisan, non-profit leadership organization, gives Tim a fellowship in Kansas City.

1979

Graduating summa cum laude, Kaine earns his B.A. in economics from the U. of Missouri in 3 years.

1980

After 1 year at Harvard Law School, Kaine goes to Honduras for 9 months to help Jesuit missionaries.

1981

Back at Harvard, Tim begins dating 1st year student Anne Holton, daughter of former VA Gov. Holton.

1983

Tim graduates from Harvard Law School, receiving a J.D. of Law. He passes VA bar exam the next year.

1984

Anne Holton and Tim move to Richmond, VA and get married; the couple will have three kids together.

1984

Civil rights specialists Little, Parsley & Cluverius, P.C. hires Tim as an Associate Attorney.

Kaine is instrumental in founding the VA Coalition to End Homelessness, chairing its 1st meeting.

1987

Tim tries civil rights cases as a director at Mezzullo & McCandlish, P.C.

University of Richmond Law School hires Kaine to teach legal ethics as an adjunct professor.
